Years ago, Jamie Foxx was involved in a real-life rescue near his home in Southern California.

The incident took place in Ventura County, where a truck veered off the road, rolled over multiple times, and caught fire. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Brett Kyle, was trapped inside the vehicle as it came to rest in a ditch.

Foxx said he heard the crash from his home and called 911 before heading toward the scene.

An off-duty paramedic who was driving nearby also stopped to help. According to Foxx, the paramedic used a tool to break the vehicle’s window and cut the driver’s seatbelt, allowing them to reach him.

Together, they were able to pull Kyle out of the truck just before it became fully engulfed in flames.

Foxx later described the moment as something that required a quick response rather than something he viewed as heroic. He said his focus at the time was simply getting the driver out safely.

Kyle sustained several injuries, including broken bones and a punctured lung, but was expected to recover.

In the days following the crash, Kyle’s father said he had seen footage of the incident and noted that several vehicles passed the scene before anyone stopped to help.

Authorities confirmed that two individuals assisted in removing the driver from the vehicle, though they did not formally identify Foxx in their statement.

The incident drew attention at the time, offering a rare off-screen moment from the actor outside of his work in film.
