A high school student in Indianapolis spoke out after his girlfriend received negative comments online following their prom.

Tre Booker and Madison Haulter, who had been together for more than a year, attended Pike High School’s prom and later shared photos from the night on social media.
In the images, Haulter wore a pink sequined gown, while Booker matched with coordinating details.
Most of the responses were positive, but one comment criticized Haulter’s appearance.

She later posted a screenshot of the message, writing that she did not understand why someone would be rude to a person they did not know.
Support from other users followed shortly after, with many responding to defend her and comment on the couple’s relationship.
Booker also responded publicly.

In a message directed at his girlfriend, he described her as “perfect” and made it clear that the comments would not change how he saw her.
His response drew attention online, with many people pointing to it as an example of support.
The couple continued posting about each other after the exchange.

Haulter’s father also spoke about the relationship, describing Booker as respectful and supportive.
As the school year came to an end, both said they were preparing for college. Booker planned to attend Ivy Tech, while Haulter intended to study psychology at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.
